Architecture, engineering and construction

Make complex design and construction information easier to act on.

Connect BIM, technical visualization and interactive communication so project teams can review design intent, coordination and construction sequence with the right level of evidence.

Operating context
Architects, engineers, contractors and owners coordinate evolving information across disciplines, project stages and audiences with very different technical knowledge.
Systems to connect
Authoring and coordination models, common data environments, drawing and issue-management systems, approved schedules, material references and site information.
Who needs to be involved
Each design discipline owns its technical information; the appointed coordination or project lead controls model federation, review status and authorized release.

Workflow design

From federated project information to a controlled review

The delivery path keeps technical ownership in the source systems while preparing fit-for-purpose views for coordination and communication.

Reference approach · PRM-01Illustrative · adapted during discovery
  1. 01

    Define the review decision

Identify the audience, project stage, question, required disciplines and authority for resolving findings.

    Output

A review brief and information requirement

  2. 02

    Audit and prepare sources

Confirm coordinates, revisions, classifications, linked information and the limits of model detail.

    Output

A validated source register and federated view

  3. 03

    Visualize the condition

Create the required still, sequence, simulation or interactive view without adding unapproved technical meaning.

    Output

    A review-ready visual or experience

  4. 04

    Record and hand back

Capture questions and dispositions in the agreed issue process; update outputs only after authorized source changes.

    Output

A traceable review record and release package

Controls across the workflow

  • Model and revision provenance
  • Discipline responsibility
  • Issue ownership
  • Visual-versus-technical status labels

Decisions that shape the scope

Is the output for communication or technical coordination?
Define this before production. A marketing-quality render can explain intent but does not replace a coordinated model, drawing, specification or discipline approval.
What level of model detail is required?
Use the information needed for the review and project stage. More geometry increases management effort and can imply certainty that the design has not reached.
Where should review findings live?
Use the project's approved issue environment or common data process. The visualization can expose a condition, while the accountable system records its disposition.

Evidence before expansion

Define what better means.

These are proposed evaluation measures, not reported client results. Agree the baseline, sample and acceptance threshold before the pilot, then review the evidence with the workflow owner.

Source alignment
Verify that each visualization or model review references the agreed model revision, discipline status and documented information limitations.
Review resolution
Track whether review questions, coordination issues and owner comments receive an accountable disposition before the next release.
Audience comprehension
Test whether intended reviewers can identify the decision, sequence or spatial condition without relying on unsupported visual assumptions.

Before you commit

Is this the right engagement?

Use this approach when a project decision is difficult to understand in drawings alone, several disciplines must review the same spatial condition or non-technical stakeholders need a controlled explanation.

Reference worksheet only. Your signed proposal and statement of work define the engagement.

What we need from you
Bring the review objective, current models and drawings, discipline status, coordinate strategy, issue process, schedule information and named technical approvers.
How you accept the work
Confirm source revisions, test representative conditions with responsible disciplines and verify that comments are recorded in the approved issue process.
Scope & alternatives
Visualization and model preparation do not transfer design responsibility, certify constructability or replace statutory, engineering, safety or contractual review.

Overview

Visualization should support a project decision

AEC teams do not need another disconnected model. They need information prepared for a specific review: design communication, multidisciplinary coordination, construction planning, stakeholder approval or site communication. The workflow must preserve model provenance, level-of-information limits and responsibility for technical decisions. Programmatic combines BIM and visualization production with interactive engineering, making it possible to move from coordinated source information to clear presentations without confusing a visual explanation with a construction deliverable.

  • Phasing animation
  • Site logistics visualization
  • Interactive stakeholder review

Frequently asked questions

AEC visualization questions

01

Is architectural visualization the same as BIM?

No. Visualization focuses on communication and appearance; BIM manages structured project information for defined uses. They can share geometry, but their requirements, responsibilities and acceptance criteria differ.

02

Can you work from Revit, IFC or CAD files?

We can review common authoring and exchange formats. Suitability depends on revision, coordinates, linked data, visible detail and the intended output rather than the file extension alone.

03

Can a construction animation prove that a sequence is safe?

No. It can communicate an approved sequence, but qualified project and safety professionals must establish and authorize the method, constraints and controls.

04

How do you avoid model-version confusion?

Every output references an agreed source register and milestone. Superseded inputs and visual assumptions are recorded, and changes require an authorized source update.
